SIRS-Lab appoints Ania Mitan as Executive VP Commercial expanding its senior management

Jena, December 11, 2008 SIRS-Lab is pleased to announce the appointment of Ania Mitan as Executive Vice President Commercial.

This expansion of the senior management accelerates the routine implementation of SIRS-Lab's breakthrough diagnostic suite for sepsis. In her capacity, Ania Mitan will be responsible for commercial planning and execution as well as business development.

She brings 15 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in senior management positions and with exposure to the worldwide markets. Most recently, Mrs. Mitan was European Marketing Director of Eli Lilly with an outstanding track record in the clinical implementation and commercialization of sepsis pharmaceuticals.

SIRS-Lab, a leading molecular diagnostic company dealing with the field of life-threatening infections, is currently expanding its marketing and sales portfolio, by recruiting key experts to accelerate the implementation of its sepsis diagnostic suite into clinical routine. VYOO, the cutting-edge test for the rapid and reliable identification of sepsis pathogens, has been available for purchase since December 2007. The first-in-class test SIQNATURE, used for the early prediction and monitoring of system infection, is now accessible for selected scientific experts and will be fully commercialized in 2009.

 

Sepsis, a main cause of death

Sepsis is a life-threatening systemic infection and one of the main causes of death in hospitals worldwide. Per year, approximately 2 million people suffer from sepsis in industrial countries alone. With an average mortality rate of 50%, the disease is one of the most unmet medical needs and a major burden on healthcare resources.
