Barbara Staehelin

CEO

Since 2009, Barbara Staehelin is Chief Executive Officer of SIRS-Lab. In her former positions she made a career as life science entrepreneur and in various positions in the diagnostics industry. Swiss national Barbara Staehelin is a biochemist and holds an MBA from INSEAD (Fontainebleau) and has distinct experiences in the PCR diagnostic markets. Until 2006, Barbara Staehelin was a member of the Global Executive Committee of Roche Diagnostics.  

Dr. Ed currie
Corporate Development

Dr. Currie joined the company in 2009, and is responsible for partnering, licensing, companion diagnostics, and corporate business development activities. An infectious disease physician by background, Ed has over 20 years of industry experience at leading companies in the areas of pharma, biotech, molecular diagnostics and personalized medicine. Before joining SIRS-Lab, he was Chief Operating Officer of a private Swiss biotech company.

Dr. Marc Lehmann

Development

Dr. Marc Lehmann is leading the R&D and product management programs in microbiology. He joined the company in 2001 and is now co-holder of a non-exclusive general power of attorney. With his expertise in medical microbiology and immunology he led the successful development of the diagnostic test VYOO.
Dr. Lehmann holds a PhD in biology and is author/ co-author of various peer-reviewed publications. Furthermore, he is inventor/ co-inventor on 12 patents in the field of sepsis diagnosis.

Ania Mitan

Commercial

Ania Mitan is responsible for commercial planning and execution. She joined the company in 2008 after 17 years in the pharmaceutical industry with experience in senior management and high exposure to the worldwide markets. Mrs. Mitan has an outstanding track record in the clinical implementation and commercialization of sepsis pharmaceuticals. She received her Pharm. D. at the Silesian Medical Academy in Katowice and additionally holds an MBA from the Simmons College in Boston.

Dr. Alessandro Romualdi

Services

Dr. Alessandro Romualdi is leading the bioinformatics department at SIRS-Lab. He holds a PhD in biology and was research fellow at the Leibnitz Institute Jena, specializing on biocomputing. Being at SIRS-Lab since 2005, Dr. Romualdi drives the development of databases for biobanking and study applications with a special focus on diagnostic test development and validation.  

Frank Thiemann

Quality and Operations

Frank Thiemann is in charge of the production and supply chain management, quality control and regulatory affairs. He joined the company in 2008 and has 15 years of experience in the production of in-vitro diagnostic reagents in the categories of infectious diseases, endocrinology, and autoimmune diseases. By profession he is a chemical engineer. 

Dr. Britta Wlotzka

Research

Dr. Wlotzka joined the company in 2005 and is responsible for the SIRS-Lab immune monitoring program. She is an expert in biotechnology and health care industry. Previously she was responsible for preclinical development in a biotechnology company. Dr. Wlotzka received her PhD in chemistry from the Georg-August University in Göttingen and holds a master degree in pharmaceutical medicine from the University of Witten-Herdecke.
