History

SIRS-Lab was founded in 2000, emerging from the University Hospital in Jena. Business operations began in 2001 and by the end of 2003 SIRS-Lab had made its 50th patent application. The year 2005 saw the launch of the first commercially available product (LOOXSTER), a sample preparation system that concentrates the DNA of pathogens (bacteria and fungi) from complex samples such as whole blood.

LOOXSTER is now a key component of VYOO, the company's diagnostic test for rapid pathogen detection, launched in 2007.

In parallel with product development, SIRS-Lab has utilized a unique biobank to identify and evaluate proprietary sepsis biomarkers to enable monitoring of patient's immune response during early sepsis and subsequent treatment.

In 2008, SIRS-Lab received CE approval for VYOO and IVD (in vitro diagnostics) Quality Management certification EN ISO 13485.
